Stephen Chertkof represents employees in lawsuits and appeals in all areas of civil rights and employment law. Mr. Chertkof is a past-president of the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association, which is the local affiliate of the National Employment Lawyers Association, a professional association dedicated to advancing the legal rights of individual employees. He works on amicus briefs for both NELA and MWELA and has written briefs for the Supreme Court and other appellate courts on issues of broad importance regarding employee rights.

Richard A. Salzman

Salzman

Richard Salzman is a partner in the firm of Heller, Huron, Chertkof & Salzman, and a 1988 graduate, with honors, of the Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Salzman has been litigating employment/civil rights claims in federal and local courts in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia since 1989. He has successfully argued cases before several federal and local appellate courts, as well as the United States Supreme Court in a case alleging discrimination against a United States Senator which raised a constitutional issue of first impression.

Sharon Rogart

Sharon Rogart

Sharon Rogart joined Heller Huron as an Attorney in 2018. Ms. Rogart obtained her law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law (J.D., 2018), where she was an executive editor for the Journal of Law and Politics. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rogart participated in litigation of medical malpractice cases and other tort matters as well as serving as a judicial intern at the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims.

Douglas B. Huron (1945 - 2021)

Douglas B.
Huron

Doug Huron was recognized as one of the foremost employment lawyers in the country. He practiced employment law his entire legal career, beginning in 1970 at the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice, with the only break coming during the Carter administration when he served in the White House as Senior Associate Counsel to President Carter. In private practice from 1981 through 2021, he litigated hundreds of employment cases.

James H. Heller (1928 - 2001)

Jim Heller was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. He graduated from Harvard College magna cum laude in 1949 and received his LL. B. from Yale Law School in 1952. Heller practiced employment law on behalf of employees and applicants for employment exclusively. In 1981 he joined Kator, Scott & Heller as a name partner and practiced with that law firm until early 1997, when he became one of the founding partners of Heller, Huron, Chertkof, Lerner, Simon & Salzman.
